Journal Prompts for Women of Faith in Their 40s

Reflection

Take a look back at the younger version of you.  Explore the ways you have changed, and the ways you have stayed the same.

  1. If you could go back in time, what words of wisdom do you have for your 16-year-old self? Would your younger self have taken your current advice? Why or why not?
  2. What goals/dreams stayed the same since you were 16 years old?  Which ones changed?
  3. Would the 16-year-old version of yourself be proud of you? Why or why not?
  4. What do you like the most about the 16-year-old version of yourself?  In what ways are you still her?

Self-Esteem

Take some time to “toot your own horn.” Reflect on some of the best parts of yourself.

  1. Describe the last time you did or accomplished something that made you proud of yourself.
  2. What is your favorite thing about yourself?
  3. What is your best survival skill?
  4. What scenarios do you thrive in the most?

Spiritual

Reflect on the spiritual aspect of your life. Explore areas of faith in your life.

  1. What are you currently praying for?
  2. What lessons is God currently teaching you?
  3. What are you grateful for?
  4. What areas in your spiritual life could you grow the most in?

Dreams

Take time to reflect on your dreams and goals. Explore these goals without limits.

  1. If you could wake up on Monday morning and do anything you wanted to, what would it be?
  2. If you could have any job/career regardless of skill or pay, what job/career would you want the most?
  3. Think of your goals for the future. In what ways would you have to change to move forward with your goals?
  4. If you woke up to your dream life, what does it look like?  In what ways is it similar to your current life? How is it different?

Some of the prompts may require more time to reflect than others.  There is no need to rush to have all of the answers today.  Enjoy the process, and take your time to reflect on your answers.
