After a hectic week, here comes the Sunday blues. You start thinking about Monday, and all the things you have to do. One thing that I like to do to prepare for the week ahead is my Sunday reset.
Sometimes you can feel behind before the week starts. You may feel overwhelmed by unfinished tasks that you didn’t get to do over the weekend. This fills your mind with mental clutter. I used to deal with this same issue until I realized that I just needed a simple Sunday reset. A Sunday reset doesn’t have to be perfect. In fact, 10 to 30 minutes of your time on Sunday can make a world of difference when your Monday starts.
Why You Need a Sunday Reset
You don’t want to start a new week carrying thoughts and worries from the previous week. This can cause mental stress and leave you feeling worn out before the week even starts.
The Sunday Reset
One of the first things you want to do as a Christian woman during your Sunday reset is to pray. You want to pray that God directs you, orders your steps, and leads you to what is important for the week ahead.
Next, you want to start brain dumping. Brain dumping is when you write down all the things on your mind. All you need is a pen and a sheet of paper. You want to write down all the things that need to be done, things that were started but not finished, or whatever comes to mind. This includes people you want to call or things that may have crossed your mind. Put everything in the brain dump.
Then, you want to pick a couple of items out of the brain dump that you want to work on that day. It is best if these are quick tasks so you can have some quick wins. Hopefully, this will leave you feeling like you’ve actually accomplished something already for the week. It helps to take some stress off your shoulders.
You also want to write down 2 or 3 items that you wish to accomplish tomorrow. Once you have selected your tasks for tomorrow, don’t think about them anymore. Those tasks are for tomorrow, and we will not let them weigh us down today.
Now you will want to review your planner (paper or digital) and see what you have coming up for Monday and Tuesday. If you want to look further, you can. This will help you to know what your day will look like on Monday. With this information, you can plan your outfit and when you need to wake up in the morning.
After that, you want to start prepping for the morning. Go ahead and pack your lunch. If you have a commute, pre-pack your work bag, get your keys ready, and gather any homework or paperwork that needs to be signed and sent back to school. This will prevent having to rush in the morning. I personally like to program my coffee maker so that it is one less thing I have to think about. It is the little things that help out in the morning.
Now that you have prepped for the next day, take some time for yourself. Whether it is reading a book, watching your favorite show, listening to music, or going for a walk. Your Sunday reset is what you make of it.
