My favorite work tote of all time is my yellow Carla Rockmore© 2-in-1 Tote Bag 2.0. I would link it to this post, but she recently announced that she is shutting down her online store. I can’t tell you how many compliments I get when I wear this bag. I am glad I chose the color yellow. I usually stick to black or brown for a professional and neutral look. However, I wanted to think outside my comfort zone a little. I am glad I did. I only wish I bought more colors before she shut down her online store. I have other work totes, such as my Marc Jacobs leather work tote bag in the color Iced Coffee. There are also my dream bags that I may purchase one day. But these bags all have certain things in common that I will share.
What do I look for in a good work bag?
- I look for structure. I don’t want a slouchy bag. I want a clean, professional look.
- I look for quality material. I don’t want any peeling or scuffs. I want my bag to pull the rest of my look together.
- It must be a classic look. I am at a stage in life where I want pieces that last and can be worn for more than one season.
- I look for space. I carry a lot in my work bag, so I need room for my things.
- It must have a shoulder strap. There is no negotiating on that. I need to be comfortable.
